Haredi Women's Primary Opens for Weeklong Vote

An online initiative has opened a weeklong primary asking Haredi women to rank women they would like to see represent their community in the Knesset. Organizers stress that the vote is not an internal election for any party and that the listed women did not put themselves forward; users proposed them. Candidates include educator Rabbanit Adina Bar-Shalom, journalist Sivan Rahav-Meir and Esty Shushan, co-founder of Nivcharot. The project says voting runs from Tu B'Av for one week, after which it will publish results, God willing, as a message to existing parties about Haredi women's representation.
