Darline Graham Advances to South Carolina Senate Runoff

Interim U.S. Senator Darline Graham and Representative Ralph Norman advanced from South Carolina’s special Republican primary to an August 25 runoff for the Senate seat held by her late brother, Lindsey Graham. No candidate won the majority needed to secure the nomination outright, and Graham finished first in the 10-candidate field. Governor Henry McMaster appointed her last month to serve the remainder of her brother’s term, and President Donald Trump endorsed her campaign. The Republican nominee will face Democrat Annie Andrews in November in a state that has not elected a Democratic senator since 1998.
