National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir signed an order barring a planned maternity-ward inauguration at East Jerusalem's Al-Makassed Hospital after police and Shin Bet intelligence indicated senior Palestinian Authority officials would attend. The Prime Minister's Office asked police to permit the ceremony because Emirati diplomats were expected, warning that blocking it could create trouble with the UAE. A senior adviser to the UAE ambassador then appealed directly to Ben Gvir and agreed to his demand that PA representatives be excluded. The ceremony proceeded with Emirati diplomats after the PA invitations were canceled.
