Membership Site Shared in Likud Groups Exposed Affiliation by ID Number

A website circulated for several days in groups affiliated with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party allowed users to check whether a person appeared in the party’s voter registry using only an Israeli ID number. The lookup could expose political affiliation without the person’s consent. The option was removed after one of the site’s creators was contacted about the exposure. The live page now asks users to submit their own ID number and email, states that membership-status and contact data will be stored, and identifies the operator as the New Likudniks Democratic Group. No number of affected people was reported.
