Iranian Parliament Approves Bill Criminalizing Interviews With Israeli Media

Iran's parliament approved a bill Sunday criminalizing interviews or discussions with media it deems hostile, including Israeli and U.S. outlets and organizations financed by either country. The measure, which still requires Guardian Council approval, provides six months to two years in prison for violations. It would also require notification to the Intelligence Ministry before interviews with other foreign media and impose further penalties for unauthorized contacts with foreign embassies or organizations. The vote follows the prior week's 15-year sentence against photojournalist Yalda Moaiery over allegations that included sharing strike-damage photographs with CNN and giving an interview.
