Palestinian Killed After Stone Attack on Israeli Hikers in Sa’ir

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of dense pale concrete village buildings on terraced arid hills beneath a broad sky, with utility lines crossing the foreground, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue chalk and pastel strokes with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

An Israeli group entered the outskirts of Sa’ir on an unapproved, uncoordinated hike, where Palestinians threw stones and several people were injured, according to a military source. A security person who arrived then fired, wounding several Palestinians and killing one; Palestinian accounts instead alleged that one of the activists opened fire, leaving the shooter’s identity unresolved. A village home was later set alight, and IDF troops dispersed those involved without arrests. The IDF, Israel Police and Shin Bet are investigating the incident, with police investigators expected at the scene.
