Iran Warns Countries Against Joining U.S. Economic Offensive

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei warned countries against helping the United States expand its economic pressure on Iran. In an official briefing Monday, he called the U.S. maritime blockade an aggressive act and said any escalation or cooperation with the measures would bring consequences. Baghaei said sanctions, “maximum pressure” and economic war all aimed to force Iranian surrender, but claimed those approaches had failed. He added that Iran’s “hands are not tied” and rejected U.S. accusations that Iranian negotiators could not be trusted.
