Trump Asked Munir to Press Iran Back to Talks Before Tehran Visit

U.S. President Donald Trump asked Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, to use Islamabad’s influence to bring Iran back to negotiations, according to three Pakistani sources. Two sources said Trump initiated last week’s call, whose full contents remain unclear. Munir left for Tehran on Monday with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as part of what Pakistan’s military described as a regional peace effort. His agenda was expected to include U.S.-Iran tensions, Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the recent Pakistan-Turkey-Saudi mutual-defense agreement.
