Netanyahu Says Iran Tried to Assassinate One of His Sons

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran tried to assassinate one of his sons, making the disclosure during a live conversation with military correspondent Noam Amir. Netanyahu did not identify whether Yair or Avner was targeted and offered no operational details. He linked the alleged plot to the need for protective security, saying such protection was not a luxury and warning that Iran could otherwise succeed. Netanyahu also said he asked Shin Bet chief David Zini to ensure appropriate protection for anyone running for prime minister during the election campaign.
