Britain Backs U.S. Iran Sanctions and Calls for Diplomacy

Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey said Britain supports U.S. efforts to reach a diplomatic solution with Iran and welcomes increased pressure through Operation Economic Outcast. He said Britain has imposed more than 240 sanctions on Iran since the government took office and will keep coordinating with Washington and other partners. Healey said Britain would work to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, counter Iranian activity and prevent Tehran from exploiting the global economy or British financial system for its nuclear program and wider destabilizing activity. He called on Iran to cease regional destabilization and engage in good-faith diplomacy.
