North American Aliyah Sets August Record as 150 Olim Arrive in One Day

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of a smiling young North American immigrant holding a blank rectangular placard toward the camera in a busy airport arrivals hall, with travelers and counters behind him, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

More than 1,100 North Americans made aliyah in August, a monthly record, as 150 olim arrived Thursday on six group flights. Nearly 100 landed within half an hour, and the summer total is expected to exceed 2,200 across almost 100 group flights. About 2,700 North Americans have made aliyah so far in 2026, with Nefesh B’Nefesh projecting more than 4,000 by year’s end. The summer cohort includes about 700 children entering Israeli schools in September, including 80 first-graders, while roughly 650 newcomers are settling in the north and south.
