Qatari Prime Minister Heads to Tehran for Iran De-Escalation Talks

Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, is due in Tehran on Thursday for meetings with Iranian officials. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said the agenda includes regional de-escalation, conditions for renewed dialogue, freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and restoring navigation to its status before February 28. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed the visit and said bilateral relations and regional peace and security would also be discussed. The officials did not announce specific agreements or name the Iranian participants.
