Qatar Warns Continued Hormuz Closure Risks Further Escalation

Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari said continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz would drive further regional escalation and endanger navigation. During the ministry's weekly briefing, he said Doha is coordinating with regional and international mediation partners to reduce tensions. Qatar urged the parties to show wisdom and return to negotiations. Al Ansari also said Gulf states have diverse economic foundations capable of enduring the closure's effects, while announcing no agreement, ceasefire or reopening of the waterway.
