UKMTO Confirms Tanker Hit by Projectile in Hormuz, Crew Safe

UKMTO said local authorities reported that an unidentified projectile struck a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, northwest of Oman’s Musandam Peninsula. The impact started a fire that was extinguished, while all crew members were reported safe and accounted for and no environmental damage was reported. The incident was reported at 17:30 UTC on August 25, and UKMTO issued Warning 121-26 on August 27. Authorities are investigating the strike, and UKMTO advised vessels in the area to transit cautiously and report suspicious activity.
