CENTCOM Says No Ships Hit Mines in Hormuz, Rejecting IRGC Claim

U.S. Central Command rejected an IRGC claim that an unidentified supertanker struck two mines in the Strait of Hormuz’s southern route and stopped completely. CENTCOM said no ships had hit mines in the strait and called the Iranian account a disinformation effort intended to intimidate commercial shipping in the region. The Iranian account said the vessel suffered a major fire after hitting two naval mines. CENTCOM’s statement directly contradicted the Iranian account of the incident, which did not identify the tanker or provide casualty or detailed damage information.
