Iranian State Media Reports Saudi VLCC SIDR Stopped in Hormuz

Iranian state media reported that the Saudi-flagged VLCC SIDR was stopped while transiting the southern Strait of Hormuz after activating its Automatic Identification System. The report did not identify who stopped the vessel or why, and no verified source reported damage, casualties, or the condition of its cargo and crew. Bahri lists SIDR as a 2019-built very large crude carrier with 300,759 deadweight tonnes and capacity of up to 2.2 million barrels. The reported stoppage has not been confirmed by Saudi, Omani, or independent maritime authorities.
