Panel Recommends Shin Bet Protection for Eisenkot Through Election Day

The Prime Minister’s Office Advisory Committee for Personal Security recommended continuous Shin Bet protection for Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot through the October 27 Knesset election. The recommendation, which still requires approval by the ministerial committee overseeing the service, followed new threat alerts and findings submitted by Eisenkot’s team. It reverses a decision last week by Shin Bet chief David Zini not to assign a state detail because the service said it lacked intelligence or a concrete attack warning. Eisenkot currently relies on party-funded private guards described as unarmed and without access to intelligence, while Yair Golan’s request will be considered separately.
