Shin Bet Declines Security Detail for Eisenkot as Campaign Cites Rising Threats

Shin Bet chief David Zini decided not to assign an official security detail to Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of Yashar and a former IDF chief of staff. The service told Eisenkot’s campaign it would provide a liaison and intelligence assistance before specific events while continuing to assess threats and coordinate with his private security company. The campaign said hostile election rhetoric and Iranian threats make its privately hired, unarmed protection inadequate, and asked officials to reconsider immediately. The campaign alleged political or extraneous motives; the Shin Bet said protection of state symbols is set by law and ministerial committee decisions.
