Syria Reports 117 Israeli Incursions Since July and 49 Syrians Still Held

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani said at a Damascus press conference that Israeli forces conducted 65 incursions in July and 52 between August 1 and 18. He said Syrian authorities counted 147 detentions since January 1 and that 49 Syrians remain held, while also citing raids in Quneitra and rural Damascus. Al-Shaibani said Damascus remains committed to a diplomatic solution and is taking part in U.S.-mediated negotiations. He called for Israeli forces to return to positions held before December 8, 2024, and reiterated Syria's demand for full implementation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
