Zamir Calls for Larger IDF and Broader Service Pool as Missions Expand

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir called for enlarging the military and broadening the pool of people serving as the IDF's missions expand. Speaking at a State Employees' Union recognition event attended by Manpower Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Dado Bar Kalifa, Zamir said Israel had fought an unprecedented multi-front campaign for more than 1,000 days. He said the force structure and advanced capabilities must be adapted to growing missions under a doctrine of removing threats before they materialize. Zamir added that caring for conscripts, career personnel, reservists and civilian IDF employees remains an overriding duty.
