Republican Strategists Say Iran War Is Hurting Trump’s Midterm Campaign

Republican campaign operatives said voter frustration with President Donald Trump’s Iran war and higher fuel prices is complicating the party’s midterm strategy. One official said Republicans were “stuck on the boat with him,” while an adviser said their task was turning Trump voters into midterm voters. AAA listed regular gasoline at $4.1459 and diesel at a record $5.8819 on September 5. Trump plans to speak both nights at the Republican convention in Dallas on September 9–10, as his advisers focus on 20 competitive House races and six Senate contests and prepare self-focused ads on his record.
