Israeli Sailor Daniel Pinsky Starts Solo Golden Globe Race

Israeli sailor Daniel Pinsky began the Golden Globe Race from Les Sables-d’Olonne, France, aboard Exodus, a 1980 Baba 35. The 35-year-old joined a fleet departing at two-minute intervals for a roughly 30,000-mile solo circumnavigation, with the official tracker showing him underway after the 14:30 local start. Competitors sail eastward through three rendezvous gates and may anchor for repairs, but cannot enter port or receive material assistance. Pinsky, who has logged more than 20,000 nautical miles, says he wants to represent Israel on the world stage.
