Zamir Orders New IDF Unmanned Systems and AI Branch by Hanukkah

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said he finalized plans last week for a new unmanned-systems and artificial-intelligence branch, calling the change a historic reorganization. Speaking at Naval Officers Course 153’s graduation ceremony at Haifa Naval Base, Zamir ordered the branch inaugurated by Hanukkah in early December. He said it will develop maritime, land and aerial robotic capabilities for operations alongside manned combat teams or on independent missions. Zamir said the systems would expand battlefield activity and save lives, and that the Navy would receive autonomous capabilities above and below the sea.
