Israel’s August CPI Rises 0.7% as Annual Inflation Holds at 1.5%

Israel's consumer price index rose 0.7% in August from July, accelerating from a 0.3% monthly increase, while annual inflation remained at 1.5%. The yearly rate was below the 1.6% consensus and stayed within the Bank of Israel's 1%-3% target range. Transport inflation rebounded to 0.6%, while housing eased to 3.8% and food including vegetables eased to 1.0%. Furnishings and household equipment prices were 3.9% lower than a year earlier, and clothing and footwear prices were down 5.2%. The index rose to 105.8 from 105.1.
