RTÉ Says Ireland Will Not Participate in or Broadcast Eurovision 2027

RTÉ said it will neither participate in nor broadcast the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, maintaining the position it adopted for the 2026 competition. The Irish public broadcaster cited continuing deaths and the humanitarian situation in Gaza, as well as the denial of independent access to international journalists. RTÉ’s December 2025 statement said its earlier withdrawal followed the European Broadcasting Union’s confirmation that Israel would remain in the contest. The latest decision therefore affects both Ireland’s entry and domestic transmission of Eurovision 2027 while leaving RTÉ’s Israel-linked policy unchanged.
