Expert Estimates Four Israeli Banks Earned Over NIS 20 Billion From Current Accounts

Gilad Mano, the plaintiffs’ economic expert in a class action against four Israeli banks, estimates that they earned more than NIS 20 billion from current-account balances under higher interest rates. In an interview published October 2, he named Leumi, Mizrahi Tefahot, Discount and First International. Mano said the portion potentially recoverable by customers remains undetermined and depends on the interest pass-through rate established through settlement or court proceedings, as well as updated balances. The estimate concerns bank earnings; it does not represent a compensation award or a final finding of liability.
