Hager (Land), directed by Shmuel Beru, won the best Israeli film prize at the 42nd Haifa International Film Festival. The newly announced awards also recognized the film’s cinematography, honoring Itzik Portal, Ori Ackerman, Ran Aviad and Yoram Milo. The Israel–Ethiopia production follows an Ethiopian Jewish family in 1973 as members of its community prepare a dangerous journey through Sudan to Israel. The jury praised the film’s unified visual and emotional language, bringing together its story, direction, ensemble acting, locations and production design. Beru and Gil Roee produced the 87-minute film.
