Labour’s Sagal Abdi-Wali Defeats Zack Polanski in London By-Election

Labour’s Sagal Abdi-Wali was elected MP for Holborn and St Pancras in London after the October 8 by-election, with the result announced early on October 9. She received 12,292 votes against Green Party leader Zack Polanski’s 8,928, with turnout of 38.76%. At a September Jewish-community hustings, Polanski declared himself an anti-Zionist and declined to affirm Israel’s right to exist or endorse a two-state solution. Abdi-Wali backed a two-state solution and said she had stood with Keir Starmer as he tackled antisemitism in Labour.
