Attorney General Reportedly to Review Zini’s Senior Shin Bet Appointments

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara reportedly will examine the immediate necessity of senior appointments proposed by Shin Bet chief David Zini during the election period. The review concerns posts equivalent in rank to IDF major generals and brigadier generals, against guidance requiring restraint in appointments that could bind the next government. The guidance does not impose an absolute ban, allowing urgency and circumstances to be weighed. Shin Bet said the appointments form part of a previously determined rotation based on term lengths and were made lawfully through a professional, orderly process considering candidates’ qualifications and experience.
