Electricity Authority Reportedly Plans 200 MW Cap for New Data Centers

Israel's Electricity Authority is reportedly preparing a 200 MW electricity-connection limit for each new data center. Unnamed officials familiar with its deliberations said the proposed ceiling aims to accommodate more facilities and protect grid stability, with no geographic restriction on applications. Public consultation is expected to open on October 18, run for three weeks, and precede a final decision. The report identifies applications for 1,100 MW in Hadera and 875 MW in Nesher, both above the proposed limit. The authority had not responded to the report at publication.
