Electricity Authority Reportedly Set for Sunday Decision on Data-Center Rules

Israel's Electricity Authority is reportedly due to discuss new data-center rules on Sunday, October 18, amid disagreement over total capacity through 2035. Members' positions reportedly range from several hundred megawatts to about 1 gigawatt, versus up to 2.3 gigawatts. Proposals include a 200 MW limit per facility, construction deadlines and guarantees of NIS 2 million per megawatt. Requirements concerning peripheral locations and energy efficiency are reportedly being left to the next government. Only a partial decision is expected at this stage; the proposed rules have not been adopted.
