IDF Says Gaza City Strike Killed Hamas Commander Involved in Holding Hostages

The IDF said on October 14 that an airstrike in Gaza City the previous day killed a Hamas military-wing commander who had participated in holding hostages captive in the area during the war. The military said he also served as an assistant to commanders of Hamas’s Gaza Brigade. According to the IDF, he had recently worked on terrorist plans against Israeli troops and civilians while trying to rebuild Hamas’s capabilities in violation of the ceasefire. The IDF said the strike removed the threat and that Southern Command troops remain deployed under the agreement to counter immediate threats.
