Trump Says U.S. Could Seize Iran’s Oil as He Weighs Further Pressure

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that the United States could seize Iran’s oil and even the country itself, while describing Iran as weakened and short of money. He presented further action and allowing pressure to wear Iran down over time as competing options, asking, “Do we want to finish it off or do we just want to let it wither?” Trump also claimed that the United States had full control of the Strait of Hormuz and that oil flows had increased. He did not announce a decision to carry out a takeover.
