Iran Criticizes Germany’s Stance on Israeli Action Against It

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei criticized Germany’s position on Israeli military action against Iran in a statement on Saturday night. He contrasted what he described as Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s support for Israel’s June 2025 operation with current German and European warnings against renewed attacks and escalation. Baqaei accused Germany and its European partners of applying contradictory standards. Separately, a joint statement published by Germany’s Foreign Office said ministers from eight countries had met in Istanbul on Friday and advocated dialogue, diplomacy, regional de-escalation and maritime security.
