Ben Gvir Releases 2023 Gaza-Border Video Arguing for Confronting Hamas

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir released footage on Monday that he identified as a conversation with local security coordinators at Nahal Oz on October 4, 2023. In the accompanying account, he said the discussion took place overlooking Jabalia and described disagreements with the IDF chief and security officials about responding to hostile activity at the Gaza border fence. Ben Gvir argued that avoiding a confrontation would allow Hamas to build up more weapons and strength. He also advocated lethal force against people approaching the fence with the intent to harm Israel.
