Herzog Votes in Jerusalem and Urges Israelis to Participate
Published
President Isaac Herzog voted in Jerusalem on Tuesday morning, 27 October, and urged Israelis to take part in the election. He and his wife, Michal, cast their ballots at a school polling station in the city. His remarks focused on participation and the need for Israelis to continue living together after voting ends. “Tomorrow, we will all continue here together,” Herzog said. He called on citizens to make their voices heard at the ballot box and emphasized equal citizenship. His appeal addressed Israelis as fellow citizens who would still share the same country after the election. Herzog said he had met wounded IDF soldiers in a rehabilitation program the previous evening. He told them that their service had helped make it possible for Israelis to exercise their democratic rights. He also thanked the Central Elections Committee for its work and expressed hope that election day would be a celebration of democracy. The President’s spokesperson had scheduled a visit to the Central Elections Committee at the Knesset in Jerusalem for 10:00 on Tuesday. The announced program called for a briefing on turnout and polling-station updates, followed by a joint statement with the committee chair.
