Police Disclose Yatta Resident’s Arrest Over Suspected Terror-Attack Threat

Israel Police disclosed on Wednesday that officers and IDF troops had arrested a resident of Yatta, in the Hebron area, following a report that he had expressed an intention to carry out a terrorist attack against Israeli civilians. The suspect is in his 50s. Police said the investigation remained under way. The Hebron police station, part of the Judea police area, opened the investigation on Tuesday night after receiving the report. Police officers from the station worked with IDF forces from the Judea Brigade to locate and arrest the man. The announcement described the alleged threat as directed against Israeli civilians, without identifying a particular target. After his arrest, the suspect was taken to the police station for questioning on suspicion of threatening to carry out an attack and harming regional security. The statement did not identify him by name or announce an indictment. It described an ongoing investigation rather than a completed prosecution. Police said they would continue working with other security bodies against people suspected of threatening terrorist activity or inciting it. They described that work as locating suspects, investigating them, making arrests and pursuing the legal process.
