TurboGen Completes First TR2000 Power System and Begins Internal Testing

TurboGen said on November 3 that it had completed assembly of its first TR2000 combined heat and power system and begun internal testing. The Petah Tikva company designed the 20-kilowatt unit for defense applications, residential buildings and other civilian projects. The announcement marks an engineering milestone rather than a customer deployment. The system uses TurboGen’s multifuel microturbine technology to produce electricity and heat locally. “Completing the first TR2000 system turns our 20kW design into a working system,” chief executive Yaron Gilboa said. The company described assembly and testing as steps toward commercializing the product, with further work still ahead. On October 5, TurboGen announced an agreement with an unnamed engineering and manufacturing provider based in the European Union for serial development and manufacturing of its 20kW systems. That agreement has an initial five-year term and automatic annual renewals. It is intended to support ongoing production and demand for defense and civilian applications. Gilboa said the company anticipates further testing, certifications and demonstrations as additional units are assembled and marketed. The release did not give completion dates for those steps or announce certification, sales or customer installation of the first unit. Both company announcements identify expectations about commercialization and future performance as forward-looking statements.
