Zamir Says IDF Will Block Hezbollah Infrastructure, Orders Faster Robotics Integration
IDF Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited Northern Command and the 91st Division on November 4, held a situational assessment and toured the Khiam area. During the visit, he reviewed a combat robotics model presented by troops and instructed commanders to accelerate the integration of robotic capabilities into combat units. Zamir said, “We will not allow Hezbollah to establish terrorist infrastructure in the area.” He said efforts by the organization to establish positions, expand its capabilities or threaten northern communities would draw an immediate and forceful response. He described the 91st Division as the forward defensive line protecting northern residents and reaffirmed the need for strong defenses along the border. The chief of staff also accused Hezbollah of acting in Iran’s service at the expense of Lebanon’s interests and citizens. His remarks came during a visit that included discussions with brigade commanders operating in the sector. Northern Command commander Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo, Ground Forces commander Maj. Gen. Nadav Lotan and 91st Division commander Brig. Gen. Yuval Gaz accompanied him, along with other senior commanders. The 769th Brigade and the 869th Field Intelligence Battalion presented their Combat Robotics Team model for the first time, according to the IDF. His stated next step was faster integration of those capabilities into combat units; he also praised cooperation between Northern Command and Ground Forces and the division’s troops.
