Ayalon Reopens Early as Cable Works Finish and Weekend Closures Are Canceled

Ayalon Highway reopened to traffic on Friday, November 6, after Israel Electric Corporation completed cable work earlier than scheduled. The company said the closures still planned for the rest of the weekend had been canceled, replacing a timetable that had included another overnight interruption between Saturday and Sunday. Israel Electric Corporation said reinforced crews had worked through the night to finish the network work around Glilot interchange. In its statement on the reopening, the company said: “The closures planned for the rest of the weekend have been canceled.” Normal road traffic resumed following completion of this work. The first closure began on Thursday, November 5, at 23:30 and had been scheduled to remain in place until 16:00 on Friday. A second closure was due to begin at 23:00 on Saturday, November 7, and end at 05:00 on Sunday, November 8. Both the early Friday reopening and the cancellation of the later closure change that previously announced weekend schedule. The work involved replacing electricity cables crossing Ayalon Highway, also known as Route 20, and railway infrastructure. It formed part of electricity-network upgrades in the Sharon and Gush Dan regions. Friday’s completion concerned this cable-work stage near Glilot, within the wider regional upgrade program.
