Beliak Calls for New Government and Equal Conditions in Next Election

Vladimir Beliak called on November 7 for a government to be formed and for fair, equal conditions in the election for the 27th Knesset. In a Hebrew statement on X, he connected that demand to criticism of the outgoing coalition, election campaigning and the public debate about serving personnel. Beliak denied that the change bloc had betrayed those serving in the military. He said journalists and commentators had devoted more attention to that accusation over the preceding 24 hours than to the outgoing coalition’s responsibility for the October 7 massacre. That comparison was his criticism of the coverage. He accused broadcasters supporting Benjamin Netanyahu and Likud of violating campaign rules, including on election day. He also alleged that the Prime Minister’s Office had used the police for an operation intended to influence voters. These were allegations in Beliak’s statement, rather than findings by a court or election authority. Beliak further alleged that public funding transferred by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to Orit Strock’s ministry for Jewish-identity events had served party recruitment. Describing the election outcome in his own terms, he said Netanyahu’s coalition had lost 15 seats and put its opponents’ majority at 67–53. “We must form a government,” Beliak wrote. His concluding call sought equal conditions for everyone in the next Knesset election; it did not name a proposed prime minister, coalition partners or an election date.
