Suspected Aircraft Infiltration Triggers Sirens in Zar’it and Shomera
Sirens warning of a suspected hostile aircraft infiltration sounded in Zar’it and Shomera in northern Israel at 06:10 on November 8. The IDF confirmed the alerts in an initial statement and said the circumstances were being examined. That statement did not identify an aircraft or report an interception. “The details are under review,” the IDF said. Home Front Command issued separate alerts for Zar’it and Shomera at the same time, identifying both communities as part of the confrontation-line region. Each alert instructed residents to enter a protected space immediately. The warning follows separate IDF announcements about security operations along the northern front. On November 5, the military said troops of the 188th Brigade, operating under the 36th Division in the Beaufort Ridge and Litani River areas of southern Lebanon, had located more than 340 Hezbollah weapons. The reported finds included antitank missiles, mortar shells, explosive devices and small arms. The IDF also described a shaft about seven meters deep inside a civilian home, with medical and living equipment underground. On November 4, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited Northern Command and the 91st Division, reviewed border defense and toured Khiam. He said Israel would not allow Hezbollah to establish terrorist infrastructure in the area. Those earlier statements concern the military’s border-security activity; the initial November 8 alert statement did not attribute the suspected infiltration to Hezbollah.
