US Drops Hamas-Disarmament Rebuild Condition
The Trump administration has decided to stop treating full Hamas disarmament as a precondition for starting Gaza reconstruction, moving instead toward a phased rebuild of areas under Israeli control. Israel would pull back in stages, an international force would enter and reconstruction could run for a decade, while Hamas still resists a clear heavy-versus-light weapons formula. The Lightstone and Khalil al-Hayya contacts had already been traced as Hamas hardened its posture in Board of Peace talks. Israel should test any civilian relief track only against enforceable security: no rockets, tunnels or Hamas armed rule can be rebuilt under diplomatic cover.
