Former Police Chiefs Tell Levy to Halt Campaign Use of Police Facilities
Maariv published July 5 at 09:36 IDT that a forum of former police commissioners and senior officers led by Moshe Karadi wrote Police Commissioner Danny Levy demanding an immediate halt to politicians using Israel Police and Prison Service facilities, officers, guards and prisoners in campaign videos. The letter says the practice violates the Elections Propaganda Law and cites recent National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir clips from police operations in Lod, Tuba-Zangariyye, Jaffa and Jawarish. Ynet and Shakuf previously reported that Central Elections Committee chair Noam Solberg ordered Ben Gvir to delete earlier police and prison-service videos. Israel needs assertive policing against crime, but state uniforms must serve the public, not any campaign.
