Fresh Blasts Reported Near Bandar Abbas and Qeshm

New explosions heard near Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island in southern Iran

Fresh explosions were reported around Bandar Abbas and nearby Qeshm Island at midday Monday. Local reports cited residents who said the sounds came from a distant area west of Bandar Abbas and raised, without confirmation, the possibility of fighting in Gulf waters. Hormozgan provincial authorities characterized the blasts as part of new U.S. attacks and said no civilian casualties or damage to residential or commercial infrastructure had been reported. The reports came amid the latest U.S.-Iran exchange around the Strait of Hormuz, but no American statement identifying a midday target was available.
