Inter Cancels Record Anan Khalaili Transfer After Medical Review

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta said Monday that the club will not complete its planned transfer of Israeli international Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise because Italy's sporting-eligibility authority did not clear him. Inter had agreed a package reported at €25 million plus bonuses, a move that would have made the 21-year-old the most expensive Israeli footballer. Marotta said the decision followed Italy's strict player-health rules and was not made by Inter. Khalaili is expected to return to Belgium, while Inter will pursue another right-sided player.
