Tanker Missile Strike Reported Near Oman on Outbound Hormuz Route

Britain's maritime security agency reported Tuesday that a tanker was hit by a missile about 13 nautical miles southeast of Limah, Oman, while traveling outbound on the southern route through the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel's identity, flag, cargo, damage and crew condition were not immediately disclosed. Authorities are investigating, and ships were advised to transit cautiously and report suspicious activity. The report came during renewed U.S.-Iran fighting over the waterway, after Iran declared the strait closed and the United States said it would keep commercial passage open.
