U.S. Says Iran Hit 7 Commercial Ships, Nearly a Dozen Crew Killed, Missing or Hurt

U.S. Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper said early Wednesday that Iran intentionally attacked seven commercial ships over the previous seven days. He said the attacks left nearly a dozen civilian crew members killed, missing or injured. Cooper also said Iranian forces launched dozens of missiles and drones toward neighboring Gulf countries during the same period. He said U.S. forces were holding Iran accountable for aggression that continued to endanger civilians; the statement did not identify the seven vessels or give a separate casualty breakdown.
