Gender-Separation Signs Removed in Bnei Brak After Court Petition

Some gender-separation signs placed on Shlomo Hamelech and Ezra streets in Bnei Brak were removed Wednesday after a public dispute and High Court petition. The signs directed men and women to different sidewalks near wedding halls, where supporters said the arrangement addressed heavy evening crowds while helping residents preserve modesty. Reservist activist Yaya Fink and former MK Michal Rozin petitioned to stop the infrastructure work and signs, while lawmakers asked the attorney general to review the plan’s legality. The municipality said the rabbis’ call was private and it had only widened local infrastructure to relieve crowding, not adopted an official policy or enforcement measure.
