U.S. Launches New Iran Strike Wave Against Threats to Hormuz Shipping

U.S. Central Command launched a new wave of strikes against Iranian military targets at 3 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, continuing an intensified campaign around the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM said the operation, ordered by the president, targeted capabilities used to threaten commercial shipping and civilian crews. An earlier 90-minute round hit coastal-defense systems and cruise-missile storage and launch sites on Greater Tunb Island. The operation followed Iranian attacks on shipping and renewed U.S. enforcement of a blockade on vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports.
